Christella is an award-winning composer, musical director, singer, songwriter, producer, and artist developer.
She has created and directed acclaimed productions including Windrush: Movement of the People (Phoenix Dance/BBC film), The Legends of Them (The Royal Court & Brixton House, winner of the 2024 Offie Award), Queen of Chapeltown and Searching for the Heart of Leeds (Leeds Playhouse), Nine Night (Leeds Playhouse, 2022), and her first opera, POWER (Northern Opera, 2022).
Christella has performed internationally, touring for nearly a decade with Motown legend Martha Reeves. She has worked with world-renowned producer Glen Scott, recorded backing vocals for Eric Bibb and Ricardo Ajorna (over 20 million records sold), and appeared as a guest vocalist in Sting and Kate Prince’s Message in a Bottle. She has supported and collaborated with Sir Tom Jones, Jamiroquai, Beverley Knight, Peabo Bryson, Candi Staton, Kim Weston, Ella Andall, Kenny Phillips, and Martha Walsh — to name just a few of the many artists she has worked with across her career.
As an artist developer, Christella has nurtured rising stars including ADMT, Cole LC, Mica Sefia and in 2025 she mentored Zac from The Piano 2025 alongside Jon Batiste, helping him reach the finals.
She is currently the Creative Director at Music House Leeds, where she continues to uplift the community and provide a safe, inspiring creative space. Through choirs, musical projects, and music tuition, she empowers people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with music and unlock their potential.
